CEO’s Note
In 2025, the Broadband Forum will continue to focus on end-user Quality of Experience (QoE) from low latency and high throughput to adaptive network behaviors that respond to user needs in real-time.
In March, we will be travelling to the vibrant global financial center, Hong Kong, where our Spring Member Meeting 2025 will take place from 11-13 March. Make sure to register for the event to be part of the discussion on the progress of broadband standards.
Also, don’t forget to submit your speaking proposal by 31st January for our upcoming Town Hall Innovation Series (THIS) taking place during the Spring Meeting. It’s a great opportunity to share your expertise and insights on the critical role of service-oriented architecture in the evolving landscape of broadband networks.
Lastly, I want to warmly welcome our new BBF team member, Nazar Sobchuk. With recent developments requiring us to transition many of our collaborative and project management tools to a cloud environment, Nazar will lead this critical migration over the coming months. Nazar will also manage user access for both new and existing members and ensure seamless use of our communication and collaboration tools. Looking ahead, Nazar will also provide ongoing support, development, and training for these tools. With his extensive experience in managing complex migration projects, we are thrilled to have him on board!

Technology Spotlight
L4S
Low Latency, Low Loss, and Scalable Throughput (L4S) is a technology designed to enhance broadband network performance, particularly for services that require minimal delay, or low latency, such as cloud gaming, video conferencing, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR). Critical for end-user QoE, L4S provides real-time congestion feedback and implementation of scalable control mechanisms. This means it can deliver high throughput while minimizing delays, even in congested network conditions. You can hear more about the project from Broadband Forum ATA Work Area Leader and Vodafone Principal Engineer, Jonathan Newton here.
