Session Topic: End-to-End Quality of Experience
When? 8:30AM-12:30PM HKT, Tuesday, March 11th 2025
Where? Hong Kong
This Town Hall Innovation Series session will explore the critical role of service-oriented architectures in the evolving landscape of broadband networks. As we approach 2030, the demand for seamless, high‑performance digital experiences is set to increase exponentially. Focusing on what are the future residential and business end-to‑end service requirements and how the operator and service provider can guarantee the appropriate Quality of Experience (QoE).
The goal of the Town Hall Series is to advise, guide and create conversation to help BBF direct its work towards the definition of key features and strategies needed to provide reliable, high‑quality services: from low latency and high throughput to adaptive network behaviours that respond to user needs in real-time.
This will align with the rise of approaches, including, the managed home experience, service differentiation, latency and routing mechanisms, network slicing, AI-driven network management, edge computing, and fixed network coordination with 5G in enhancing the user experience.
Service-led architectures are not just BBF’s strategic direction embodied in the recently formed Work Area, they are poised to redefine broadband network performance, enabling more personalized, efficient, and user-centric services in the coming decade.
The Town Hall Innovation Series will include the following presentations:
- ‘Quality of Outcome’ – Bjorn Ivar Teigen Monclair, Head of Research, Domos
- ‘Delivering premium ased services by an end-to-end network slicing solution, monetize the network’ – Kurt Pynaert, Head of End-to-End AutoX Solutions & Innovations & Bell Labs Fellow, Nokia
- ‘Optimizing FWA Deployments with Quality of Experience (QoE) measures’ – Colin Grealish, Product Director, Motive
- ‘FAN Intelligent Engine: the key enabler to End-to-End QoE’ – Fan Xu, Chief Architect for Optical Access Network, Huawei
- ‘Broadband Services Metrics – and Beyond’ – Ken Kerpez, Principal Standards Guru, Futurewei
- ‘Bridging the Gap: Application QoE and Network Performance Metrics’ – Mayur Channegowda, Broadband Architect, Vodafone
- ‘New Requirement for End-to-End Quality of Experience in Fixed Networking’ – Dinghai, Fixed Access Network and home Networking Expert, China Unicom
- ‘An empirical study on the effects of network and service congestion on perceived application quality of experience’ – Max Downey, General Manager Network Traffic Modelling & Insights, NBN
General aim of Town Halls:
The Town Hall Innovation Series host strategic themed discussions for each face‑to‑face meeting that:
- Align with BBF strategic vision
- Highlight industry trends
- Directly impacts or influences future BBF work
